Our most Disadvantaged Children
Arya needs your help to walk. Please donate to cover her non-medical costs while in Kathmandu, 600kms across the Himalayas. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for her.
Arya, who has never walked and has little use in her right hand, is being given free treatment – but not expenses – at a specialist children’s hospital near Kathmandu. So, we NOW need donations to cover transport, food and accommodation for the next 6 weeks for her and her granny. (Abandoned at birth, her ‘tiger’ granny found her in a child-centre.) Your help could mean she walks! https://www.gofundme.com/f/arya-pupil- at-q-learning-nepal

Hungry Children
We are an educational charity, so we do not directly support health or social care. But what if a child is too hungry to study? (Stunting and rickets are still common in Hangdewa.) We have set up a canteen for nutritious lunches for our poorest
children most at risk – funded by Eifion Trust – The earth is one country and humankind its citizens.
New School Year 2082: Prefects and School Council
Our prefects from last year have continued this year as they go into the new additional Class
Class 8 students join in tasks as juniors. With the help of Feshan, our Head Boy of 2-3 years ago, (now at SWC in Kathmandu and home for a week), they have set up a School Council to give students more of a role and voice in running our large school (300 pupils and 30 sponsored children at other schools). They have already been busy organising events.
New Year: New Beginnings
We welcomed 28 new 4 year-olds into our Nursery – 15 boys and 13 girls. However, for the first time ever, we have achieved 50% girls and 50% boys in our school. Hooray!
New uniforms made-to-measure by local tailors; new school books for every child; chemicals and lab-coats for the science laboratory; paints, paper, sports equipment have all arrived. We also have new school teachers – especially needed for senior science and social studies classes. It has been a busy time for our 4 school leaders.
Extra-Curricular Activities
School runs Sundays to Fridays, 4 terms and about 35 weeks a year. Fridays are extra- curricular days and hugely enjoyed. Since late April, we have held: training events in ‘Burns Prevention and treatment’ (5% of children are affected in Nepal) and ‘Nutritious Foods versus Junk Food’; inter-schools quizzes (we won 1st prize); our first all-school Prize Day; singing and dancing; chess, puzzles and jigsaws; sports including football for all classes (girls and boys separately), badminton, karate, darts, table tennis. Children also take time to borrow books, in Nepali and English, from the school library.
Extra-curricularactivities are enabled by sponsors/mentors. We need more!
